Tuncay Takmaz was born in Istanbul in 1975. He finished Şişli Akşam Business High School. He tried to work as an accountant but could continue 5 years. In 1996, he met the painter, Ekrem Kahraman and became his assistant. Takmaz has had 18 solo exhibitions, and participated in many group exhibitions. His paintings were selected for a large number of national and international collections. In 1997, he established the Çekirdek Art Union with a group of friends. In 1999, he played a major role in the publication of the Çekirdek Art Magazine and then became the editor. Takmaz was the general coordinator of the Çekirdek Art Contemporary Art Exhibitions. He has planned and designed many exhibitions. In 2000, his first catalogue with text by Mehmet Erguven was published. Takmaz did a series of performances by publishing letters titled “This is an Act of Art”, while he was doing his military service during 2003 and 2004. In 2005, he established the Çekirdek Art Atelier. In the same year, he published his first book “Unutma Aşk” (Don’t Forget, Love), which is a collection of his poems, written between 2002 and 2005.
