Yalçın Gökçebağ was born in Denizli, Ortaköy Village in 1944. He finished at Isparta Gönenköy Teacher′s School in 1957. In the same year, he attended the Istanbul Çapa Painting Seminar and studied painting with Malik Aksek and İlhami Denirci. After finishing school in 1961, Gökçebağ started working as a teacher at a primary school in Şirin village, Denizli. In 1963, he entered the Painting Department of the Gazi Institution of Education in Ankara. After his graduation, Gökçebağ started working at Akşehir Teacher’s School in 1966. After his military service, Gökçebağ worked as a painting instructor at a college in Izmir for a year. In 1972, he started working as a cameraman in TRT. In 1990, Gökçebağ began teaching as a painting instructor in the Department of Fine Arts at Middle East Technical University in Ankara. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions and held more than 50 solo exhibitions. Currently, Gökçebağ continues to teach at Middle East Technical University.
