Yeşim Akdeniz was born in Izmir in 1978. She studied painting with Prof. Krieg at the Kustakademie Düsseldorf between 1997 and 2002. She then pursued her postgraduate at De Ateliers in Amsterdam between 2002 and 2004. In 2010, she worked as a studio residency at the Platform in Istanbul. Akdeniz often creates an installation of related paintings, both figurative and abstract. Since 2003, she has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in lots of group exhibitions in Europe. In 2006, Akdeniz was awarded the Peter Mertes scholarship by the Bonner Kunstverein. Currently, she lives and works in Istanbul.
