Zahit Büyükişleyen was born in 1946. After graduating from the Arts and Crafts Department of Gazi Education Institute (State Teachers College) in 1967, he continued his education towards a master’s degree at the Kassel State Academy of Fine Arts in Germany between 1972 and 1976. He completed his doctoral degree, proficiency in Arts at Mimar Sinan University in 1982. Büyükişleyen had his first exhibition in 1969. Since then he has had numerous international and national solo exhibitions. He has also participated in many group exhibitions. Büyükişleyen received eighteen awards for his works, including a first place in the French Cultural Center Mural Competition and a gand pize in the Romanian-Balkan Countries Biennial. At Haceteppe University, he became an Assistant Professor in 1984, Associated Professor in 1986 and a Professor in 1992. Prof. Büyükişleyen currently continues his work as Department Chair in the Department of Fine Arts at Yeditepe University.
