Zeynep Akgün

Zeynep Akgün was born in Uzunköprü, Edirne in 1975. She graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1997. She completed her master’s degree at her alma mater in 2000. In 2009, Akgün had her first solo exhibition “Suskonuş” at the Karşı Art Works in Istanbul. Her second solo exhibition “Koma” was held at the Artgalerim Nişantaşı Art Gallery in 2012. Akgün has participated in many group exhibitions and fairs in Turkey and abroad. She received several awards including an honorable mention award in the Kalmık Foundation 4th Painting Competition (1996), an honorable mention award in the Art Fair, Young Talents Competition (1997), and a first prize in the Ayşe-Ercüment Kalmık Foundation 5th Painting Competition (1997). Currently, Akgün lives and works in Istanbul.
