Pervin Özdemir was born in Izmir in 1951. She took drawing and art history classes from Ali Rıza Hiti. She graduated from college in 1971. In the 1980s, she continued her art studies concentrating on ceramics at the Museum of Paintings and Sculpture in Izmir. In 1996, she studied at a ceramics workshop in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and researched in Cologne and Amsterdam. She also published articles on ceramic art. In 1990, she founded her workshop, and started training students.
Özdemir has had 25 solo exhibitions and has participated in 65 group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. In 1990, her solo exhibition in Ephesus was broadcasted on Japanese TV. Her works can be seen in many public and private collections all around the world including Germany, the Netherlands, England, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, the USA, Italy, Sweden, Australia, Japan and France. In Turkey, her art works are in the collection at the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, the Izmir Chamber of Doctors’ main building, the Body of Lawyers in Izmir, the Izmir Atilla İlhan Culture Center, Ankara Istanbul Technical University, the Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum, the Izmir Painting and Sculpture Museum, Ephesus Museum, Gazi University, the Izmir Konak Municipality, and the Çekirdek Art Modern Museum.
Özdemir is a member of United Painters and Sculptures Association, International Plastic Arts Association and of the Turkish Ceramic Association. She served as an art consultant at the Ephesus Museum Art Gallery for 7 years. In 2000, she had a solo modern ceramic exhibition in Urfa, which was the first in South-Eastern Turkey. The Turgut Pura Foundation awards “Pervin Özdemir Prizes” in her honor every year in the Sculpture Section of the Ceramic and Painting Competition. Since 2006, Özdemir has taught at the Izmir Konak Municipality, Güzelyalı Cultural Center. Currently, she continues her work in Izmir.
