Süha Derbent was born in Istanbul in 1963. He has taken wild life photographs for more than 20 years. He took travel photographs for the Cumhuriyet daily, Atlas magazine, and Marie Claire. He then worked as the visual director of photography for two years for Gezi National Geographic Traveler magazine. Derbent has traveled more than 60 countries to take wild life photographs with many sponsors including Emirates, Emirates Holidays, Canon, BP, SHELL, KLM, Sabah Adventure Club, and Chevignon. In 2002 Derbent published the book Face to Face by Iş Bank Culture Publications. His animal pictures were used for making calendars by BP and Shell to protect animals, which are under the threat of extinction. In 2007 Derbent went to the Virunga National Park in Congo with Dr. Filiz Demirayak, who is the WWF Turkey representative. Derbent’s photographs of the mountain gorillas, which are facing extinction, have donated to the archive of photographs in the WWF Turkey. In 2008 He photographed all seven large wild cats (lion, leopard, cheetah, tiger, puma, jaguar, snow leopard) living on earth. In 2016 he published a book entitled "The Wild Side of Kenya / Kenya′nın Yaban Yüzü" (Istanbul: TAV, 2016). Derbent currently continues taking photographs of wild life all over the world.
