Yücel Tunca

Yücel Tunca was born in Diyarbakır in 1966. He graduated from the Department of Journalism and Public Relations at the School of Journalism, Istanbul University. He worked as a press photographer until 1997. Since then, he has taught photography and given many seminars and conferences at various middle schools, universities, and private institutions. Tunca served as a committee member in the Istanbul Saydam Günleri Festival (photography festival) in 1996-2005 and the ULISfotoFEST in 2007. He founded Koridor Advertising and Promotion Photography Company with Nurdan Sözgen and Mehtap Yücel. Tunca served as the Chairman of the Board in the Photography Foundation, which was established in 2004. In the same year, he founded the Galata Fotoğrafhanesi. In 2009, he started the Program of Documentary Photography and Photojournalism at the Photograph Academy with Vedat Ateş in the Galata Fotoğrafhanesi. In 2010, Tunca established PyaPictures photography agency with Vedat Ateş. Tunca has had many photography exhibitions and published several books. He currently works as a founding editor of the agency and a photographer, in addition to his work at the Galata Fotoğrafhanesi.
