Sakine Çil was born in Trabzon in 1956. She completed her master′s degree in the Department of High Decorative Art at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. She then completed her doctoral degree, proficiency in art at Marmara University, Institute of Social Sciences. She has had several solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey. Between 1983 and 1981, Çil worked as a restorer in the restoration of Ihlamur Pavilion. In 1989, she worked as a guest artist in an application of inner decorations of Islamic Center in Chicago. Between 1985 and 2009, she taught as a ceramic instructor in the Department of Fine Arts at Boğaziçi University. Currently, Çil works as a free restorer and continues her work in Istanbul. She is the member of Turkish Ceramics Society and International Society of Plastic Arts.
