Meryem Tomak was born in Antakya in 1975. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in 2002. Upon graduation, she prepared collections for various textile companies, while continuing her works on painting in which she mostly experimented with creating textures. She worked as an art director and stage designer for various photo-shoots and plays. Since 2007, Tomak has been continuing her work at her own studio in Balat, where she mostly focuses on her unique mask design and sculptures out of fallen barks of chestnut, beech and linden. She has held many solo exhibitions and participated in various group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Tomak currently continues her work in Istanbul.
