Nur Esen was born in Erzincan. She graduated from the Painting Department at the Gazi Institute of Education in 1977. She then worked as a state official for 11 years. She studied painting and participated in a painting exhibition while staying in the US in 1981. She painted at several workshops for three years in Copenhagen where she moved in 1988. Esen returned to Turkey in 1991 and started painting at her own workshop in Ankara. She has also written many stories and fairy tales for children. Some of her stories and fairy tales have been published in children′s magazines. Esen has held over ten solo painting and sculpture exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and Europe. She is a member of the United Painting and Sculptors Association. Esen currently continues painting at her workshop in Ankara.
