Sakine Özkan

Sakine Özkan was born in 1947. After graduating from the Geomorphology Department at Istanbul University, she completed her Master′s degree at the Institute of Marine Sciences of Istanbul University. She studied painting in Paris and sculpture at Nilgün Bilge′s workshop at Boğaziçi University. In 1999 Özkan went to Senegal to research African sculpture. She then started making sculpture with stone. Since 1995 she has held many solo exhibitions and participated in various group exhibitions in Turkey. Özkan currently continues her work in Istanbul.
