Sevgi Karay was born in Germany in 1965. After completing her primary and middle school in Adana, she studied sculpture at the Fine Arts Academy of Mimar Sinan University between 1986 and 1991. Her first solo exhibition was held at the Artisan Gallery in 1993. Between 1999 and 2001, Karay gave lectures on a “variety of materials” at the Fine Arts Academy of Mimar Sinan University, Department of Stage and Theatre. In 1992, She founded her workshop with her husband Hayri Karay. Since then, she has continued to work on sculpture along with furniture design and production.
