Sefer Memişoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1977. He graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. He completed his master’s degree at his alma mater. In 2001, he won the “Success Award” in the 21th Contemporary Artist Exhibition in Istanbul. In 2007, he received the Crystal Apple “Success Director Award” in Istanbul. Between 2007 and 2009, Memişoğlu completed a residency at Rijksakademie Van Beeldence Kunsten / Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. His works can be seen in collections such as the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary in Vienna. He has participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and Europe. Currently, Memişoğlu lives and works in Istanbul and Amsterdam.
