Dr. Selim Seval was born in Istanbul in 1953. He graduated from the Economic Department at Boğaziçi University in 1976. He received his master’s degree in finance at his alma mater in 1978, and completed doctoral degree in finance in the Faculty of Business Administration at Istanbul University in 1986. Seval has served as a high level executive such as vice general manager and general manager in the banking and finance corporations for many years. He also taught as a part time lecturer at Boğaziçi University and Istanbul University. Since 1994, he has served as an executive of his own company. He is also the honorary chairman of a leading corporate design agency in Turkey.
Besides his career, Seval is a photographer. He started in photography in the late 1960s. In 1971, he had his first solo exhibition at a high school where he studied. The following exhibition was held at the Çemberlitaş Art Gallery in 1972. Since then, he has participated in numerous photograph competitions and group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. After being a member of IFSAK, Seval participated in FOTOGEN (Photographic Art Association) as a founder member. He has published several photograph books including “Metroistanbul” (Istanbul: Istanbul Ulaşın San. ve Ticaret A.Ş., 2004), “A long dream...Istanbul” (Istanbul: Deniz Cultural Publications, 2005), “Airportistanbul” (Istanbul: TAV, 2005), “İstanbul Suları” (Istanbul: Turkish Is Bank Publications, 2009), and “Terminalistanbul” (Istanbul: TEMSA, 2007). Currently, Seval serves as the chairman in the Cultural Awareness Foundation.
