Varol Uzlu was born in Trabzon in 1971. After graduating from the Department of Journalism in the Communication Faculty at Istanbul University, he worked as an intern at Istanbul TRT news center as well as HBB and STAR TV news centers. He started taking photography after completing his military duty. In 1999 Uzlu returned back to Trabzon and concentrated on photography. He also worked for ATV local news service, the Eastern Black Sea Region until 2004. He prepared photo reportages for local newspapers. In 2008 Uzlu shot his first documentary film "Mahalle Maçı," which was selected in the finalist at the 2009 Ankara Film Festival. He then shot the film "Turnuva" (2010) and "Sise Doğru" (2013). Uzlu has held many solo photography exhibitions in Turkey.
