Pekünlü completed her doctoral degree in Painting at Mimar Sinan Fine Art university in 2010. Currently, she works as lecturer at Kültür University in Istanbul. Pekünkü has held many solo exhibitions and participated in various group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad.
