Volkan Kızıltunç was born in Ankara in 1976. After studying archaeology at Istanbul University, he studied photography at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, where he graduated in 2005. He has participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Kızıltunç received the “Young Talents” award with his project "In Situ” in the Turkish Photography Exhibition, which was organized by Genis Aci Photography Magazine in 2005. In 2006, he took part in the international exhibition and book project “Last & Lost – Pictures of A Vanishing Europe,” which was organized and exhibited in Germany and Austria. Kızıltunç represented Turkey with 10 photos from the outskirts of Istanbul. In 2012, he joined a photography project entitled "Middle Town," which was organized by ISSP (International Summer School of Photography) in Latvia. In 2013, he won the ESSL ART AWARD CEE 2013 and the VIG Special Invitation to the ESSL Contemporary Art Museum in Vienna. Since 2009, Kızıltunç has pursued his MFA in photography and worked as a research assistant in the Department of Photography at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
