Yavuz Pilevneli was born in Istanbul in 1964. He finished at Saint Joseph French High School for Boys in 1983. He graduated from the Ceramic Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. In 1989, Pilevneli started working at the Inalco Ceramic Factory. In 1991, he prepared ceramic sculpture for Abidin Dino’s “Hands” exhibition. In the next year, he prepared a ceramic panel with Mustafa Pilevneli, who represented Turkey at the Unilever NV in Rotterdam. In 1992, Yavuz started teaching at the Vocational School of Technical Sciences, which belongs to Istanbul University. In 1994, he was invited to the Gent Royal Academy, and prepared wall painting with Mustafa Pilevneli. In 2000, Yavuz prepared wall painting and mosaic with Mustafa Pilevneli in the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. In addition to ceramic works, Pilevneli has taken many underwater photographs. He has had many solo ceramic and photograph exhibitions, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. In 2011, he had his photograph exhibition “Dip” at the Artisan Gallery in Istanbul. Currently, Pilevneli continues to teach at the Vocational School of Technical Sciences, and works at his workshop in Istanbul.
